ART PROJECT

Title: “Light and Shadow: The Theater of the Ephemeral”

Concept:

This Baroque scenography project is inspired by the theatrical opulence of the 17th and 18th centuries, featuring a dramatic interplay of light and perspective that creates a sense of wonder and movement. Designed for a theatrical production or an immersive exhibition, the stage transports the viewer into a world of illusion, gilded details, and trompe-l’œil effects.

Project Description:

1. Architecture and Structure

A grand central staircase with sculpted balustrades and gilded details, leading the audience into a lavish theatrical setting.

Corinthian columns and round arches frame the scene, enriched with red velvet draperies and gold brocades.

Trompe-l’œil elements painted on the wings and backdrop, enhancing the illusion of depth and amplifying perspectives.

2. Lighting and Atmosphere

Candlelight and crystal chandeliers reflect off decorative mirrors, multiplying the space in an infinite play of reflections.

Theatrical beams of light cut through the darkness, creating dramatic contrasts typical of the Baroque style, emphasizing figures and architecture.

3. Decorative Elements and Colors

Dominant colors: gold, carmine red, midnight blue, and ivory, evoking the luxury of Baroque courts.

Ceiling frescoes depicting mythological figures in the style of Rubens, framed by elaborate stucco work.

Golden sculptures and cherubs emerging from columns and niches, adding depth and three-dimensionality.

4. Immersive Experience

The scenography is not just to be observed but experienced: the audience can move through the structures, touch the fabrics, and hear the sound of wood creaking underfoot, just like in historic Baroque theaters.

Scents of incense and sandalwood fill the air, evoking the aristocratic atmosphere of the era.
